About the role

  • Will have oversight staff assigned to the warranty process.
  • Develop the warranty claim procedure in accordance with the agreement and review with Owner.
  • Upon acceptance of the facility by the Owner, implement the warranty claim process.
  • Diligently manage the warranty claim process from receipt of claim to agreement of closure by the Owner.
  • Hold regular meetings to ensure stakeholders are up to date and held accountable.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of EPC, OEM, and supplier agreements.
  • Familiar with the engineered documents for the project including specifications, drawings, manuals, turnover documentation and as built drawings.
  • Maintain records and track the resolution of all warranty work.
  • Understand & enforce adherence to the Gemma safety policies as it pertains to the execution warranty activities.
  • Able to understand and guide a multi-discipline troubleshooting process.
  • Engage the Project Manager, Project Commissioning Manager, General Superintendent, Procurement Manager, and Engineering team as required to support the efficient & timely resolution to of warranty claims.
  • Responsible for validating warranty costs and reports to the Director of Commissioning and the Project Managers.
  • Act as primary point of contact with subcontractors, suppliers, and Owner for the submission, coordination, and resolution of all warranty claims.
  • Provide guidance to operation and maintenance personnel during the warranty process.
  • Produce schedules and outage plans for warranty item resolution and system/equipment outages.
  • Ensure warranty-related work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Review punchlist prior to project turnover to Owner and assist in resolution & close as required.
  • Communicate with the key members of the installation and commissioning teams to be aware of ongoing project issues and to keep them appraised of warranty claims, which may require their assistance.

Requirements

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Power Generation, or a similar field, or equivalent time spent as a manager for a role.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in commissioning and/or construction of simple-cycle, combined-cycle, or other large-scale thermal power projects.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturer procedures and manuals.
  • Experience in leading teams of commissioning controls and instrumentation personnel.
  • Has the ability to organize information and draft persuasive written arguments.
  • Intermediate computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Prior experience working with construction technology and/or within the EPC industry is a plus.
  • Comfortable with reading & understanding contracts.
  • Experience in worker protection practices (LOTO/lock out and tag out).
  • Experience with client interface and dispute resolution.
