About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide front-line support to the department
- Coordinate and perform front-line office activities
- Greet and register incoming patients
- Check patients in for appointments and verify demographics
- Complete check-in procedures and monitor patient wait times
- Read and interpret insurance responses and assign insurance ranks
- Provide disclosure and privacy information and obtain legal and financial signatures
- Communicate financial obligations and collect applicable fees
- Complete regulatory forms with patients
- Schedule follow-up appointments, specialty services, and ancillary services
- Process messages regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints
- Notify patients or guarantors of financial responsibility and collect payments
- Perform cash posting according to department guidelines
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational and HIPAA guidelines
- Work queues to ensure timely account resolution
- Maintain productivity and quality expectations
- Perform medical record maintenance and releases
- Assist with referrals and pre-certifications
- Maintain patient recall and reschedule lists
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required
- Minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred
- Clerical I skills
- Communication skills
- Customer service skills
- Office politics and confidentiality skills
- Ability to verify patient demographics and insurance information
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights
- Ability to process referrals and pre-certifications
- Ability to perform medical record maintenance and releases
- Ability to work rotational hours between 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
