About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and review statistical exhibits for analyses and projections
  • Prepare and review statistics for internal management information reports covering marketing, sales, competitive, and loss information
  • Complete product development packages and analyze large, complex datasets to develop product changes
  • Develop and implement favorable business solutions
  • Maintain, update, redesign, and develop data and information sources
  • Check and balance data sources for reasonability
  • Organize and analyze data using R, Python, SAS, Excel, SQL, and other modeling tools
  • Assist new analysts with updating predictive models, reports, and data pulls
  • Create new models, reports, and data pulls
  • Present analytical observations to supervisors and department staff
  • Perform specialized research using advanced analytical techniques
  • Lead and provide expertise to Research and Development associates on new and complex analyses
  • Automate processes to improve department efficiency
  • Design data requirements, test databases, and create experience reports
  • Coordinate with IT on requested systems changes
  • Act as a subject matter expert in at least one area
  • Investigate new data sources and tools for analysis
  • Manage complex data pulls and large dataset extractions
  • Conduct analytical projects supporting mid- to high-level business problems or product features
  • Employ basic statistical techniques to model business practices
  • Take ownership of low-complexity business problems, plan items, and product features
  • Develop and conduct training sessions for the Research and Development unit

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Math, Data Sci, Economics, Comp Sci, Operations Research, related Engineering field, or another related quantitative or analytics field, or a Master’s degree in one of these fields
  • Five (5) years of related analytical experience with a bachelor’s degree, or three (3) years with a master’s degree
  • 3 years of experience with SAS, SQL, cloud databases, R, Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, charts and graphing, insurance rating products and principles, and analyzing data using statistics, mathematical or data mining methods
  • 2 years of experience with process control, project management, and claims, underwriting, marketing or agent
  • Required experience and skills can be gained concurrent with academic studies
  • Must be able to report to the local office
  • May undergo background checks
  • May require pre-hire technical screen
