About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and manage a team of AI governance professionals
- Lead and enhance GEICO’s model and AI governance program, including frameworks, policies, and processes
- Address emerging AI risks in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Partner with business leaders, technology teams, and legal and compliance stakeholders to embed responsible AI practices
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and ensure AI initiatives have appropriate risk controls
- Oversee and maintain a comprehensive model and AI inventory throughout the model lifecycle
- Assess and monitor AI-related risks and provide risk mitigation guidance and controls
- Advise on AI system review processes and perform risk assessments
- Facilitate committees and forums for transparency, collaboration, and accountability
- Enhance and deliver communication and training on responsible AI use and governance requirements
- Perform controls monitoring and testing to evaluate model performance
- Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal assessments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in compliance, risk management, and/or governance in AI, technology or data governance
- Technical understanding of and experience assessing risk of AI/ML use cases, platforms, and models, including Generative AI
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multiple business units, technology and AI teams, and legal, compliance and risk functions
- Strong strategic focus in addressing evolving AI risks
- Deep understanding of AI technologies, regulatory frameworks impacting AI risk management and governance, and ethical considerations in AI development and deployment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience designing and/or executing compliance testing, monitoring, audit, model risk assessments, risk oversight, or AI governance programs
- Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry preferred
- Must be able to work on-site three days per week at a Bethesda, MD; New York, NY; or Cleveland, OH office
