About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own financial analysis and decision support for a portfolio of states, including new business growth, retention, mix, rate and underwriting impacts, profitability, and expenses
  • Partner with Product State Managers to evaluate performance drivers, quantify growth-versus-profit tradeoffs, and support data-backed state-level decisions
  • Develop and maintain state-level policy, premium, profitability, outlook, and sensitivity analyses
  • Deliver insight-led storytelling connecting financial outcomes to operational levers
  • Develop analytical frameworks and tools for decision-focused insights
  • Identify improvements to analytical frameworks, data usability, and insight timeliness
  • Serve as a thought partner to Product leaders, State Management support teams, Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, and other cross-functional partners
  • Distill complex analyses into clear, decision-ready narratives and surface state-level risks and opportunities
  • Enhance consistency and rigor across Finance’s state analytics
  • Contribute to the evolution of FP&A toward a high-level, advisory, forward-looking model
  • Collaborate with peers to share best practices and elevate analytics maturity
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members supporting state-level analytics
  • Set expectations for analytical quality, business partnership, and ownership
  • Coach team members toward broader understanding of the business, economics, and decision tradeoffs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field required
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A/Finance
  • Experience working in P&C insurance
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Power BI experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Ability to use data and metrics to justify assumptions and develop business cases
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand business stakeholder needs
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Agility in managing changing expectations and priorities
  • Previous experience as a people leader required
