About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage all aspects of sales & use, personal property, business license and Canadian Value Added Taxes for GEA’s North American legal entities
- Manage indirect tax audits, including pulling necessary documents for auditors
- Prepare and/or review sales & use, personal property, business license, Canadian VAT returns and amended returns
- Prepare journal entries to account for accrued indirect taxes and corresponding tax filings
- Monitor changes in indirect tax laws, regulations and court rulings for material jurisdictions
- Review and prepare journal entries for return corrections, customer credits and intercompany invoicing transactions
- Continually develop taxation expertise and company knowledge
- Research and provide recommendations on various indirect tax matters
- Participate in the Vertex implementation for all other legal entities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (strongly preferred) or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive responsibility in accounting or tax
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Indirect Taxation, including Sales & Use tax audits
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience with SAP and Microsoft Dynamics a plus
- Ability to work independently, with minimal direction
