About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute contractual obligations according to customer requirements and site activities
  • Maintain, repair, or replace parts to correct malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines
  • Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
  • Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
  • Work with site leadership, the Site Lead, and Manager to meet contract requirements and timelines
  • Work at all wind sites within Texas Hub 9 and report to any assigned site within the hub

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic
  • OR minimum of 2 years of work experience inclusive of hydraulic and electrical experience, experience using basic power hydraulic tools, passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment, and basic computer skills
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to lift repetitive weight of up to 45 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability and willingness to climb towers of 300+ feet regularly
  • Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs. including required gear
  • Understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
  • Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
  • Desired: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field
  • Desired: Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field
  • Desired: Wind turbine experience
  • Desired: Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
  • Desired: Experience using hydraulic power tools
  • Desired: Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
