About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Execute contractual obligations according to customer requirements and site activities
Maintain, repair, or replace parts to correct malfunctions
Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines
Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
Work with site leadership, the Site Lead, and Manager to meet contract requirements and timelines
Work at all wind sites within Texas Hub 9 and report to any assigned site within the hub

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic
OR minimum of 2 years of work experience inclusive of hydraulic and electrical experience, experience using basic power hydraulic tools, passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment, and basic computer skills
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
Ability and willingness to lift repetitive weight of up to 45 lbs. unassisted
Ability and willingness to climb towers of 300+ feet regularly
Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs. including required gear
Understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
Desired: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field
Desired: Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field
Desired: Wind turbine experience
Desired: Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
Desired: Experience using hydraulic power tools
Desired: Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
