About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and daily site/hub activities
Maintain and operate electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators
Apply knowledge of variable pitch and variable speed turbines and converter parts
Read, understand, and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
Adhere to Environmental Health and Safety processes, regulations, and compliance requirements
Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines
Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
Perform diagnostic analysis and generate plans for timely resolution
Document work using computer-based service reporting procedures
Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
Mentor peers
Partner and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to meet contract requirements and timelines

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma / GED
Minimum of 4 years of wind trouble-shooting experience, and at least 1 year EHS, SQC, Lead role; OR minimum of 6 years of wind trouble-shooting experience; OR minimum of 3 years of wind trouble-shooting experience AND Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
Basic computer skills
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time
Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily
Must meet and maintain specified manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs. including required gear
Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs
Occasional overnights may be required per hub needs
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university (desired)
Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field (desired)
Wind turbine experience
Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
Experience using hydraulic power tools
Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
