About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and validate repair procedures meeting customer and business requirements
- Prove out repair safety and functionality
- Communicate unknowns, risks, and tradeoffs to drive design decisions
- Lead initial validation and beta periods for tooling/process products
- Collaborate with Deployment, Platform Leaders, Field Engineering, and EHS
- Create and maintain project plans
- Develop, test, and validate repair/replacement procedures through model walkthroughs, prototyping, freestanding components, and complete wind turbine machine heads
- Identify requirements for process-specific tooling and ensure safe installation, operation, and disassembly
- Own innovative repair solution designs and ensure adherence to engineering standards
- Apply design review processes, quality standards, best practices, and systems including eDRB, PLM, FMEAs, WDIs, and Handoff Packages
- Maintain awareness of group efforts, lessons learned, and customer/program needs
- Develop repair procedures and tooling for unplanned maintenance, Major Component Upgrades, and Uptower Repairs on onshore and offshore wind turbines
- Document lessons learned and update standard work
- Work cross-functionally with Repair Technology, Deployment Leaders, PMs, SVC Unplanned Failures, Engineering Segments, Regional FRO, and Control Title Holders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant/proven equivalent experience in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Civil or equivalent)
- Ability and willingness to travel globally 10-20% of the time
- Ability and willingness to climb wind turbines and work at heights
- Proficiency with English in written and oral communication
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills; ability to interact with senior management and hourly technicians
- Wind Turbine Product/Services knowledge
- Familiarity with industrial tooling
- Familiarity with empathic design
- Technical project management experience
- Ability and willingness to support physical shop/field work, including handling rigging and tooling
- Familiarity with CAD design and FEA analysis
- Demonstrated technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
