About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute contractual obligations according to customer requirements and daily site and hub activities
  • Work on electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and parts replacement to correct malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
  • Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
  • Observe all safety requirements
  • Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
  • Document all work using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
  • Travel locally within the Idaho 1 hub
  • Work at all wind sites within Idaho 1 and report to assigned sites as directed by the manager
  • Partner and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ year(s) experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience
  • Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license that must be maintained
  • Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily
  • Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs. including required gear
  • Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work according to contract obligations
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and be on-call per site needs
  • Ability to work occasional overnights as required by hub needs
  • Ability to obtain authorization to access U.S. export-controlled information, if applicable
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
