About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Report solid line to the General Manager, Design Engineering
  • Plan and execute internally funded and externally commercially funded New Plant Introduction development programs for next-generation nuclear plants
  • Provide program leadership for a diverse team and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of design product programs
  • Lead the technical program and execute business product and/or project strategy
  • Establish and manage technical interfaces between internal and external program parties
  • Coordinate, expedite and close open issues and concerns across the program team
  • Lead teams across engineering disciplines, business project and product teams, sourcing, quality, research centers, partners, subcontractors and customers
  • Establish working relationships with engineering managers, business leaders and stakeholders
  • Interface with external partners, customers and applicable country-specific regulatory agencies on technical issues
  • Build estimates and schedules, manage change orders and responses to corrective actions
  • Coordinate engineering interfaces and drive timely resolution of technical issues
  • Report program progress, performance and manpower utilization, including delays, adverse trends, errors and omissions
  • Manage budgetary risks and opportunities with Product/Projects, Finance and Operations
  • Support business vision/strategy for new plant initiatives and strategic programs
  • Present product/program strategies, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior GVH leaders
  • Guide leadership on management of external resources and quality of deliverables
  • Protect GVH intellectual property rights
  • Ensure adherence to GVH nuclear safety and compliance standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related science or technical discipline
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in engineering design and/or project leadership
  • At least 6 years of experience in the nuclear industry or equivalent large scale new build experience in the power industry
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information; where applicable, authorization from the U.S. Government is required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
  • Practitioner and / or expert of Lean practices
  • Experience with European customers, projects and combined heat and power applications
  • Ability to liaise between organizations operating in separate geographic locations
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results and promote strong team performance
  • Ability to operationalize business vision/strategy into tactical actions
  • Project management skills, including communication, risk, planning/scheduling, and change management
  • EPC experience and knowledge, specifically power plant
  • Understanding of nuclear industry and technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further business knowledge, understanding and capability
