About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete maintenance and large component replacement on wind turbine generators throughout the United States
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
- Oversee contractors
- Support team objectives with focus on safety, quality, and execution
- Support Field Engineers and Lead Field Specialists
- Complete required training for Up Tower Qualifications standards
- Participate in pre-job meetings covering lift plans, LOTO, schedules, weather, hazards, and job site or landowner requirements
- Assist with site preparation and coordination of labor and materials with minimal supervision
- Document work using computer-based service reporting procedures
- Communicate site status to engineering, customers, and management
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma / GED
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician OR completion of a Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, renewable energy, or similar field
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 90% of the time
- Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs
- Ability and willingness to climb towers up to 300 feet
- Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to meet OSHA weight limits of 250 to 300 lbs maximum
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
- Ability and willingness to read and interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
- Ability to write reports and perform basic arithmetic
- Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
- Ability and willingness to be available for rotating shift schedules 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
