About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Complete maintenance and large component replacement on wind turbine generators throughout the United States
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
Oversee contractors
Support team objectives with focus on safety, quality, and execution
Support Field Engineers and Lead Field Specialists
Complete required training for Up Tower Qualifications standards
Participate in pre-job meetings covering lift plans, LOTO, schedules, weather, hazards, and job site or landowner requirements
Assist with site preparation and coordination of labor and materials with minimal supervision
Document work using computer-based service reporting procedures
Communicate site status to engineering, customers, and management

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma / GED
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician OR completion of a Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Minimum of 2 years of related experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, renewable energy, or similar field
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 90% of the time
Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs
Ability and willingness to climb towers up to 300 feet
Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions
Ability to meet OSHA weight limits of 250 to 300 lbs maximum
Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
Ability and willingness to read and interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
Ability to write reports and perform basic arithmetic
Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
Ability and willingness to be available for rotating shift schedules 24 hours a day, seven days a week
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
