About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute contractual obligations according to customer requirements and daily site activities
  • Work on electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement of parts to correct malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
  • Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
  • Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
  • Document work using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with and respond to GE's remote operations center when necessary
  • Partner and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to meet contract requirements and timelines
  • Work at all wind sites within Texas Hub 1 as assigned by the manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic OR minimum of 2 years of work experience inclusive of hydraulic and electrical experience and use of basic power hydraulic tools
  • Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver's license that must be maintained
  • Ability and willingness to lift repetitive weight of up to 45 lbs unassisted
  • Ability and willingness to climb towers of 300+ feet regularly
  • Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits, not exceeding 300 lbs including required gear
  • Ability to understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
  • Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs
  • Ability to work with personnel at all levels inside and outside the wind farm
  • Wind turbine experience
  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
  • Experience using hydraulic power tools
  • Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
