About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Integrate cyber security into CI/CD pipelines and software lifecycles
  • Support the configuration and implementation of utility-grade software
  • Collaborate with expert engineers to identify risks and automate operational efficiency
  • Gain hands-on exposure to how software platforms interact with Operational Technology (OT) and IT environments
  • Support secure software solutions within Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS) for the modern digital electricity grid

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to commit for a minimum of 6 months
  • Ability to work 3 days per week during the semester or 5 days per week during semester breaks
  • Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT
  • Minimum 75% WAM
  • Students enrolled in a double degree in these disciplines will also be considered
  • Previous cyber security vacation work or internship experience within a utility, electricity, energy, or critical-infrastructure organisation would be advantageous
  • Strong interest in DevSecOps, DERMS, and grid-management technology
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, Python/Bash, Docker/Kubernetes, or cloud platforms is advantageous
  • Knowledge of OT/ICS security or SCADA systems is advantageous
  • Ability to monitor, read, and respond to contact outside normal working hours may be expected
  • Submit a CV and short statement of no more than one page
