About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical coordination for conversions, modifications, unit relocations, and uprates on in-service Gas Turbine Power Trains and BOP Mechanical/Electrical systems
  • Provide wing-to-wing support for proposals and projects from inquiry to remittance
  • Develop and monitor engineering project schedules to meet milestones defined by Project Management, GE Field Service, and customers
  • Communicate project scope to Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Field Service, Service Shop personnel, and customers
  • Provide technical support during project execution and installation
  • Manage and report project financials, including Estimate at Completion for engineering and parts costs
  • Drive lessons learned into the GT Upgrades ITR process, tools, and design engineering teams
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers and GE components
  • Maintain awareness of group efforts to ensure technical quality, timely completion, resource use, and responsiveness to customer and program needs
  • Coach and mentor junior members of the global Requisition Engineering team
  • Ensure timely completion of project objectives
  • Demonstrate accountability for functional and business objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering or field services experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading engineering projects
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed (10% or less)
  • Ability to understand, adapt, and anticipate relationships of major equipment inside a combined cycle power plant
  • Knowledge of BOP electrical equipment, excitation, load commutator inverter, one-line diagrams, generator protection, synchronization, and motor control centers
  • Knowledge of plant communication networks and GE controllers with DCS
  • Understanding of gas turbine power train operation in peaking and combined cycle configurations
  • Knowledge of GE gas turbine product lines and systems
  • Familiarity with GE gas turbine MLI/BOM structure
  • Proficiency in the gas turbine requisition process
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with global organizations and individuals
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and evaluate practices and technology
  • Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Field experience on GE Heavy Duty Gas Turbines
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for the U.S.-based opening
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
