About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage controls and instrumentation activities on-site during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of upgrade projects or new installations
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics for controls systems including Mark V, Mark VI, Mark VIe, Cimplicity, and HMIs
  • Provide customers with technical direction and support on OEM packaged products
  • Troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, software documentation, control solutions hardware, and software installations
  • Implement control constant modifications and modify software sequencing
  • Set up and modify hardware/software associated with gas and steam turbine systems
  • Prepare field service jobs and coordinate with project/service managers
  • Provide training to customer employees
  • Supervise cable laying, insulation resistance testing, and connections
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and obtain customer signatures
  • Prepare field service reports within one week of job completion
  • Provide timely and accurate internal and external reports
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met and attend technical meetings with customers
  • Ensure field activities comply with environmental, health, and safety guidelines and procedures
  • Provide expert consultation on complex projects
  • Complete pre-outage and installation planning
  • Frequently travel, work offshore, and work in restricted countries
  • Support business growth initiatives and drive customer satisfaction through quality
  • Report job progress daily or weekly to clients, plant or utility owners, and construction firms as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a relevant discipline from an accredited university or related field
  • Advanced years of experience with GE Controls systems, including Mark V, Mark VI, or Mark VIe
  • Strong knowledge of turbines, generators, control panels, PLCs, and field instrumentation
  • Hands-on experience with field tools and reading technical drawings, including P&IDs and wiring diagrams
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
  • Valid driver’s license and passport
  • Willingness to travel frequently, 75%, and work offshore or overtime as required
  • Knowledge of EX2100e considered an added advantage
  • Knowledge and skill to support outages and seek answers to arising questions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for conveying technical concepts
  • Ability to work under pressure and take ownership of onsite activities
  • Willingness to travel in-country and worldwide and work overtime
  • Experience with successful installations and outages
  • Familiarity with instruments, controls, PLCs, computer network systems, and switches
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
