About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Understand overall substation and its components, including HVDC, AIS & GIS equipment, GCB, transformers, and LV system-related structural and civil works
Execute tender and project activities for substations
Design substation civil works including buildings, drains, cable trenches, plumbing, and sanitation
Release substation designs according to client specifications and satisfaction
Check structural steel and civil designs received from design vendors
Check fabrication drawings for steel structures
Perform detailed design, BOQ, and bill of materials activities
Coordinate with clients, consultants, site offices, and subcontractors on design-related issues
Design control buildings, GIS buildings, and other facilities using STAAD PRO or other software in compliance with applicable codes
Design foundations for buildings, equipment, transformers, and reactors, including pile foundations
Handle tenders and projects to ensure timely completion of design activities
Achieve design-stage savings through proper design
Track and review operating and quality metrics
Track cost, schedule, and deliverable quality and support assignment planning with the engineering manager
Deliver projects in identified areas
Drive LEAN processes and identify improvement opportunities through customer feedback
Standardize civil and structural designs and documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university
10 to 12 years of experience in Structural and Civil Project Works
5 years of experience in international substation projects in the Middle East
Familiarity with HVDC, AIS, GIS, GCB, transformers, and LV systems
Knowledge of local and international codes and standards
Experience with STAAD PRO or other structural design software
Technical, business, and client interaction skills
Understanding of interfaces with electrical and mechanical systems
Ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical reports, presentations, and emails
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and Lean mindset
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to execute projects in line with client and project requirements
Ability to expand the competency domain and take on new learning challenges
