About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute contractual obligations according to customer requirements and daily site and hub activities
  • Maintain, repair, and replace parts on electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
  • Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision while observing safety requirements
  • Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
  • Partner and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to meet contract requirements and timelines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED, and 1+ year(s) experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience
  • Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license that must be maintained
  • Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb towers up to 300 feet daily
  • Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs. including required gear
  • Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
  • Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and on-call according to site needs
  • Ability to work occasional overnights as required by hub needs
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field is desired
  • Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field is desired
  • Wind turbine experience is desired
  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience is desired
  • Experience using hydraulic power tools is desired
  • Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and knowledge of crane and rigging requirements is desired
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable, is required as a condition of employment
