About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and daily site and hub activities
- Maintain, repair, or replace parts to correct malfunctions
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
- Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
- Observe all safety requirements
- Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
- Document all work using computer-based service reporting procedures
- Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
- Partner and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines
- Work at all wind sites within Nebraska Hub 1 as assigned by the manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program/Associates Degree in Energy, or minimum of 2 years of electrical work experience
- Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
- Basic computer skills
- Valid driver’s license that must be maintained
- Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb towers up to 300 feet daily
- Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs. including required gear
- Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
- Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
- Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
- Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs
- Occasional overnights may be required
- Wind turbine experience desired
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience desired
- Experience using hydraulic power tools desired
- Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and knowledge of crane and rigging requirements desired
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field desired
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field desired
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
