About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform on-site transformer services covering new unit installation, corrective maintenance, and unit upgrades
- Assist team leaders with on-site resources, assigned crew members, and subcontracted services
- Attend daily morning tailboards with crews and/or customer resources to outline daily activities
- Identify and report EHS/HSE concerns associated with job scope
- Assist with operation and control of vacuum processing rigs and associated equipment
- Assist with or oversee field testing or commissioning of associated units
- Participate in developing and improving standard procedures for transformer installation and maintenance services
- Provide technical assistance in preparing and submitting technical documents
- Participate in developing inspection criteria with external and internal customers for transformer services
- Collaborate with clients and the GE engineering group to ensure erection, commissioning, and maintenance of power-transformer systems
- Operate support equipment and provide emergency call-out support for customers' year-round 24x7 production requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time
- Minimum of 2 years of field experience with specific mechanical and/or electrical experience related to power transformers or other eBOP equipment
- Experience with high-voltage breakers, switchgear, and associated devices is applicable
- Associate’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical field with Power Transformer or HV/MV apparatus specialization preferred
- Mechanical experience through technical training institutes and/or military service with proven field experience encouraged
- Leadership experience desired
- Effective communication skills
- IT/computer savvy with experience using multiple software applications
- Ability to understand electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
- CDL license preferred, or ability to obtain
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
