About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as the primary EHS manager and focal point for the entire Dutch HVDC project, including the EHS interface to the customer
- Provide visible EHS management and proactive support to project management, consortium partners, and subcontractors
- Build and promote a strong safety culture across project activities
- Support implementation of GE Vernova EHS strategy, standards, and programs
- Serve as the key EHS interface for the customer, consortium partners, and subcontractors
- Understand regulatory changes and trends and forecast business impacts
- Perform and coordinate EHS training delivery
- Support implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of project EHS management and performance
- Conduct and facilitate risk assessments and hazard analyses; define, track, and verify corrective and preventive actions
- Plan and perform EHS audits, inspections, and site walks; follow up on findings
- Support Design for EHS, including engineering controls, safe work methods, and layout/access concepts
- Report to the EHS Functional Leader and project organization
- Conduct EHS reporting, including KPIs, dashboards, and monthly/quarterly reports
- Register, classify, and escalate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions
- Coordinate incident investigations and reports with regional EHS leadership and project management
- Track action implementation and effectiveness; share lessons learned and best practices
- Lead and support project EHS meetings and campaign activities
- Coordinate GE Vernova safety culture programs
- Communicate EHS expectations to employees, contractors, and visitors
- Promote workforce engagement and participation in hazard reporting and continuous improvement
- Verify subcontractor EHS competency, qualifications, and readiness
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with EHS plans, legal requirements, and project rules
- Support subcontractor onboarding, performance reviews, and interventions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field, or a technical/vocational qualification with substantial relevant professional EHS experience
- Diploma in Advanced Safety Engineering (HVK) or equivalent level
- Proven experience in a lead EHS role, ideally in construction, installation, or industrial project environments in HV electrical environments
- Solid knowledge of international occupational health and safety and environmental regulations
- Knowledge of environmental management on construction sites
- Knowledge of permit-to-work and control-of-work systems
- Experience in multinational projects and work environments
- Fluent English and Dutch, spoken and written
- Confident user of MS Office
- Experience with EHS management systems and digital EHS tools is an advantage
- Strong communication, influencing, and advisory skills
- Structured, hands-on, and solution-oriented working style
- Ability to prioritize in a multi-project environment
- High degree of personal accountability, integrity, and resilience
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a diverse, international team environment
- High flexibility to travel, including domestic travel depending on project location and business priorities
