About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Interpret customers’ technical enquiries and design cost-effective overall solutions for HVDC installations using power electronics solutions
- Specify main high-value bought-out equipment
- Perform power system studies and deliver study reports
- Produce specifications for HV equipment
- Witness equipment testing
- Provide technical responsibility and guidance to peers in areas of expertise
- Handle customer-facing responsibilities
- Develop and industrialise engineering solution tools and processes
- Create and maintain design guides
- Participate in new HVDC technology developments
- Implement control and protection solutions
- Create and deliver analysis techniques and system study tools
- Represent the business at external events through technical papers and CIGRE/IEC/IEEE working groups
- Adhere to company policies and Code of Conduct
- Consider health and safety risks and behaviors and attend EHS training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, or master’s in Power Systems
- PhD in Power System is an added advantage
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in industrial engineering roles
- Proficiency in Excel and Python
- Experience with high-voltage equipment, including transformers, switchgear, measurement devices, and power reactors
- Knowledge of high-voltage equipment testing and witnessing
- Knowledge of basic insulation co-ordination studies and surge arresters
- Good knowledge of HVDC system design, including main scheme design for HVDC converters and single-line diagrams
- Knowledge of station-loss calculations
- Ability to work to deadlines while maintaining high quality and urgency
- Technical communication, reporting, and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause identification skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven approach
