About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support retrofit projects, including installation, power-up, loopcheck, and commissioning of EX2100e Excitation Control Solutions and LS2100e Static Starter Control Solutions
  • Supervise mechanical and electrical subcontractors and instrumentation de-installation or reinstallation
  • Supervise cable laying, meggering, and connection
  • Support warranty administration and troubleshoot issues
  • Address customer service requests and lead issue resolution during warranty and post-warranty periods
  • Plan and schedule sites, perform field engineering and commissioning, start up control systems, and hand over projects to customers
  • Collaborate with project managers, customers, and supplier representatives to ensure financial performance, quality installation, timeliness, and customer satisfaction
  • Respond to customer call-out service requests
  • Complete service timesheets, trip reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements
  • Conduct pre-mobilization and demobilization meetings and procedures
  • Identify and register change-order opportunities, review proposals, and formulate and present GE solutions to customers
  • Potentially participate in factory acceptance testing, controls-strategy development, hardware/software configuration design, operator-interface graphics and network-topology design, and release of system designs to manufacturing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Automation, Electronic Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with one or more of EX2100e, EX2100 DFE, EX2000 DFE, LS2100e, or LS2100 control solutions
  • 3–5 years of field engineering experience in power generation, industrial plant automation, DCS, PLC, or similar sectors
  • Previous industrial field service experience
  • Controls experience with equipment functioning as a prime mover
  • Electronics and/or mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and TCP/IP configuration
  • Ability to learn software tools supporting HMI and application changes, including Cimplicity, Intellution, Toolbox, and GAP
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% and work overtime as required
  • Valid driver’s license and passport
  • Must reside in Australia and be an Australian citizen or permanent resident with an appropriate working visa
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems from field devices through control systems and networking
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills
  • Customer-focused field services, customer services, or project-management experience
  • Ability to work across time zones and monitor, read, and respond to contacts outside normal working hours
