About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute contractual obligations according to customer requirements and daily site and hub activities
- Maintain, repair, or replace parts to correct malfunctions in GE wind turbine generator equipment
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
- Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
- Observe all safety requirements
- Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
- Document all work using computer-based service reporting procedures
- Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
- Partner and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to meet contract requirements and timelines
- Travel locally within the hub
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED and 1+ year(s) experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience
- Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
- Basic computer skills
- Valid driver’s license that must be maintained
- Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb towers up to 300 feet daily
- Must meet manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs. including required gear
- Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
- Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
- Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts and on-call schedules
- Ability to work occasional overnights as required by hub needs
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field is desired
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field is desired
- Wind turbine experience
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
- Experience using hydraulic power tools
- Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
