About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive the engineering strategy for the Grid Automation APAC region
  • Interface effectively between cluster Engineering teams and global Engineering leaders
  • Define the future approach to regional engineering execution
  • Optimize engineering costs and resource utilization across the region
  • Ensure safe operations and processes for Project Engineering, FAT, and Field Service Engineering
  • Own technical competencies of the region’s Engineering population, focusing on complex Energy Transition projects
  • Drive competency assessments, gap identification, and gap-closure actions through hiring, training, mentoring, and on-the-job experience
  • Forecast competency needs on a Long-Term Strategy basis, minimum Y+3
  • Ensure L1/L2 support processes for GA products, solutions, and services
  • Manage Lessons Learnt and Return of Experience processes within the region and coordinate suitable sharing globally
  • Manage regional Engineering headcount, including contingent workers and subcontractors
  • Drive regional Engineering cost-out actions with central teams and use Global Backoffice/GECC teams effectively
  • Implement and provide feedback on DOW/DOR agreements with interfacing Grid Solutions business lines
  • Drive Engineering-related CAPEX usage and benefit realization
  • Lead regional Engineering process audits and support global audits
  • Measure and control project engineering costs and days spent against budget/as-sold values
  • Analyze results, take corrective action, and provide feedback to Tendering
  • Adjust and validate the engineering costing database
  • Provide leadership support, escalation, and prioritization for complex topics
  • Define and drive AI tools implementation strategy for Engineering and related regional processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Engineering Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related field
  • 10 to 15 years’ experience in a lead design role involving high-voltage substations, SCADA, RTU, or electrical control systems
  • Experience coordinating engineering teams with R&D or back-office teams
  • Systematic understanding of international standards including IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and NEMA
  • Knowledge of regional grid codes
  • Strong cross-functional communication and strategic-thinking skills
  • Experience implementing Lean operating principles
  • Experience with EPC/interface management
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams
  • Leadership skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, organization, and planning skills
  • Ability to manage escalations, site challenges, and supply chains
  • Lean mindset focused on eliminating waste and creating circular feedback for business improvement
  • Experience with engineering tools and software
  • Fluent in English
