About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the full tendering cycle for business opportunities — from strategy development and target costing through to bid submission, customer clarifications, and final contract negotiation
- Own customer relationships throughout the tender process, serving as the primary commercial point of contact and leading negotiations at both regional and executive level
- Drive commercial rigor by ensuring compliance with the Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) policy framework, delegation of authority processes, and risk management standards
- Coordinate and align regional commercial and product teams to enhance sales capability, improve proposal quality, and optimize cycle time and throughput metrics
- Build team capability by attracting, developing, and coaching talent within the ITO tender team, and by designing and delivering formal commercial training programmes
- Support forecast management and order targets, contributing directly to Grid Solutions (GSI) orders and contribution margin (CM) goals
- Champion continuous improvement across global ITO processes, bid prioritization frameworks, and commercial operations simplification initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- A formal qualification in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent professional experience at a comparable level
- Significant experience in sales, commercial operations, tendering, or risk management within a capital equipment, energy, or infrastructure environment
- Demonstrable expertise in contract management principles, including the ability to shape, structure, and negotiate complex commercial agreements
- Fluency in both English and German, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred: Experience working within or alongside HVDC, power transmission, or grid infrastructure businesses
- A track record of leading and developing high-performing commercial or bid management teams
- Familiarity with formal deal review and approval governance frameworks in a global matrix organization.
