About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a variety of projects including technical evaluations and analyses in the area of Anticipated Operational Occurrences, Anticipated Transients without Scram, Reactor Heat Balance, and Thermal Hydraulic Fuel Channel Analyses
- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses
- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of BWR stability
- Deliver products at a consistently high and sustainable level in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
- Utilize unique opportunities to create and/or improve cutting-edge automation and methods
- Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations
- Perform technical verification of engineering technical deliverables
- Prepare, communicate, and present complex technical issues to internal and external customers and recommend solutions
- Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions
- Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S. Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar)
- At least 5 years of relevant nuclear experience
- Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information
- Master's degree in engineering; or Senior Reactor Operator Certification (preferred)
- Experience with BWR core simulation and thermal-hydraulic systems codes
- Knowledge of BWR Systems and integrated plant response
- Knowledge of the fundamental principles of nuclear engineering such as nuclear physics, thermal hydraulics, and mechanical design, as applied to BWR
- Experience in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques
- Experience with standard engineering work planning and design process techniques
- Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
- Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP & TRACE
- Experience in Best Estimate methodology development (e.g., TRACG)
- Experience with Containment codes such as GOTHIC
- Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications
- Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON
