About the role

  • Drive the release of relay applications and software-defined substation automation solutions, ensuring alignment with portfolio operating rhythms, multi-generation product plans, and New Product Introduction (NPI) cycles
  • Support the GridBeats Integrated Digital Substation (iDS) system and product-level application strategy in coordination with Grid Automation regions
  • Collaborate with Product Managers (PMs) on product and solution strategies, including lifecycle management, market segmentation, renewables strategy, and go-to-market plans
  • Analyze and provide feedback on technical and functional requirements, technology advancements, industry standards, competitor analysis, and opportunities for product differentiation and growth
  • Support communication of the product offering and value proposition to Grid Automation and Solutions regions, including training for Sales personnel and customers
  • Assist with technical aspects of product launches, including the development of manuals and technical presentations
  • Address product application issues, support field investigations, and prioritize maintenance releases
  • Support customer approval processes for the product offering by providing feedback on test specifications and test results
  • Author and present expert-level papers at conferences, write technical articles, and support Sales with in-depth product knowledge
  • Participate in industry working groups and committees (e.g., CIGRE, IEEE) and provide input to customer homologation and verification & validation (V&V) use cases

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Significant and demonstrated experience in power system protection, relay configuration, and application engineering, typically gained over 5–10 years
  • Deep understanding of protection principles: distance, differential, overcurrent, busbar, transformer, and line protection
  • Hands-on experience with protection relays from vendors such as GE, Siemens, SEL, ABB, Schneider, or equivalent
  • Solid knowledge of substation automation protocols: IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-103, DNP3, Modbus, TCP/IP
  • Proven experience supporting utility or industrial protection systems (transmission, distribution, generation, or rail)
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present technical solutions to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Comfortable working across global teams and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel (~25%)
