About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, review, and support the development of Control & Protection systems, low-voltage electrical distribution, telecom, and monitoring systems for high-voltage substations.
- Prepare and validate technical specifications for equipment and services, including purchase specifications and technical requirements.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, as well as applicable local and international codes, regulations, and standards such as IEC, ANSI, and IEEE.
- Review customer technical requirements clause by clause, identify deviations or exceptions, and manage technical clarifications and queries to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure proper integration within the overall substation design.
- Oversee commissioning and testing activities for low-voltage systems.
- Provide technical support to customers and project teams throughout all project phases.
- Manage engineering subcontractors for assigned work packages, ensuring quality, schedule, and technical compliance.
- Support construction, commissioning, and assembly teams by providing technical clarifications and resolving design-related issues.
- Conduct technical site visits, when required, to collect and validate information for the preparation of electrical and telecom detailed design packages.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks, and define appropriate mitigation actions.
- Develop project deliverables in compliance with contractual EHS requirements.
- Perform technical calculations, including cable sizing, CT/PT adequacy checks, and sizing of auxiliary services equipment.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic or Automation & Control Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering activities in EPC type environment in T&D, FACTS, Power Gen or industry.
- In-depth knowledge of substation control system design, or electrical distribution, auxiliary services, industry standards, and regulations.
- Familiarity with Substation Layout is advantageous.
- Fluent Spanish proficiency.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Knowledge of high voltage products, substation engineering design and services.
- Familiarity with international and Mexican regulations and standards for substations (IEEE, IEC, ANSI, CFE).
- Experience in technical problem solving
- Strong team‐working abilities, good communication skills, written and oral.
- Ability and willingness to travel, both domestically and internationally for meetings, site visits and trainings.
