About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Performs a leadership role within GE Hitachi’s Plant Systems Integration teams
Responsible for engineering design support within a team environment
Work with other disciplines, project/product stakeholders, partner organizations and suppliers to advance plant conceptual and detailed design
Successfully deliver a new plants project
Integrate and coordinate multi-discipline activities to support the design of safe and economically superior reactor designs
Employing a balance of cutting edge and proven technologies
Develop and implement licensing and technical requirements along with the associated work processes for advanced work in new nuclear plants
Demonstrates accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks
Provide technical guidance and leadership, oversee project scheduling and resource planning, develop talent through mentorship
Act as the point-of-contact between your engineering team and both internal and external customers
Conduct component and system integration with overall new nuclear plant design
Manage product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down
Drive the identification of verification and validation (V&V) requirements at the plant, system, and component level
Responsible for defining plant-level design requirements for systems, components, subcontractors, and partner teams
Manage interface between systems, components, and project/product management organizations
Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline
Serves as best practice/quality resource

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 8+ years of experience in an engineering capacity
Eligibility Requirements: The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC but highly qualified remote (U.S based) candidates will be considered.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information
Masters or PhD in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) is desired
Experience with Nuclear Island, Turbine Island and BOP plant systems and with the associated safety analyses design bases
Experience as a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) at a nuclear power plant is strongly desired
10+ years of commercial nuclear engineering experience in multiple capacities including Design, Licensing, PRA, and/or Systems -OR- 10+ years of shipyard nuclear systems engineering experience
Requirements Management experience utilize DOORs or similar tool
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Strong knowledge of plant operations, licensing and design bases, transient and accident analysis
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
