About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Performs a leadership role within GE Hitachi’s Plant Systems Integration teams
  • Responsible for engineering design support within a team environment
  • Work with other disciplines, project/product stakeholders, partner organizations and suppliers to advance plant conceptual and detailed design
  • Successfully deliver a new plants project
  • Integrate and coordinate multi-discipline activities to support the design of safe and economically superior reactor designs
  • Employing a balance of cutting edge and proven technologies
  • Develop and implement licensing and technical requirements along with the associated work processes for advanced work in new nuclear plants
  • Demonstrates accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership, oversee project scheduling and resource planning, develop talent through mentorship
  • Act as the point-of-contact between your engineering team and both internal and external customers
  • Conduct component and system integration with overall new nuclear plant design
  • Manage product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down
  • Drive the identification of verification and validation (V&V) requirements at the plant, system, and component level
  • Responsible for defining plant-level design requirements for systems, components, subcontractors, and partner teams
  • Manage interface between systems, components, and project/product management organizations
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline
  • Serves as best practice/quality resource

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in an engineering capacity
  • Eligibility Requirements: The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC but highly qualified remote (U.S based) candidates will be considered.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information
  • Masters or PhD in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) is desired
  • Experience with Nuclear Island, Turbine Island and BOP plant systems and with the associated safety analyses design bases
  • Experience as a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) at a nuclear power plant is strongly desired
  • 10+ years of commercial nuclear engineering experience in multiple capacities including Design, Licensing, PRA, and/or Systems -OR- 10+ years of shipyard nuclear systems engineering experience
  • Requirements Management experience utilize DOORs or similar tool
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Strong knowledge of plant operations, licensing and design bases, transient and accident analysis
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
