About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- contribute to a team responsible for highly engineered equipment design of nuclear plant components
- Mechanical Component Engineers create and develop design concepts, provide procurement support, and generate drawings, CAD models, specifications, and design basis documentation
- operate in a matrixed engineering team to deliver high quality engineering deliverables
- work with a global team of GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) partner organizations and suppliers
- execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles
- include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
- direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development
- utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking
- propose different solutions outside of set parameters
- act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
- lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements
- convey performance expectations and handle sensitive issues
- demonstrate ownership and accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks
- perform component design related work as governed by ASME Section III and CSA codes and standards
- interface with other engineering teams, project managers, project engineers, procurement, suppliers, and other business functions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university or college
- 5 years mechanical design experience
- 2 years of experience working in the nuclear industry
- 3 years experience performing component design work to ASME Section III standards
- 1 year of proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD design
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% to domestic and international sites occasionally
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information
