Key responsibilities & impact

contribute to a team responsible for highly engineered equipment design of nuclear plant components
Mechanical Component Engineers create and develop design concepts, provide procurement support, and generate drawings, CAD models, specifications, and design basis documentation
operate in a matrixed engineering team to deliver high quality engineering deliverables
work with a global team of GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) partner organizations and suppliers
execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles
include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development
utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking
propose different solutions outside of set parameters
act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements
convey performance expectations and handle sensitive issues
demonstrate ownership and accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks
perform component design related work as governed by ASME Section III and CSA codes and standards
interface with other engineering teams, project managers, project engineers, procurement, suppliers, and other business functions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university or college
5 years mechanical design experience
2 years of experience working in the nuclear industry
3 years experience performing component design work to ASME Section III standards
1 year of proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD design
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% to domestic and international sites occasionally
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information
