Field Service Technician – Services and Commissioning
GE VernovaField Service Technician supporting the commissioning, service, and lifecycle performance of advanced power electronics systems. Involves extensive travel, providing expert technical guidance and on-site support.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Pre-commission, commission, and service static frequency converters (SFC) and variable frequency (VFD) low voltage and medium voltage drives/switchgear/transformers and power systems.
- Provide technical assistance and supervision to customers on the installations.
- Conduct on-site interpretation of data and technical instruction.
- Provide management with complete and prompt information and report regarding safety & project/service status, customer or equipment problems, and failures,
- Provide technical assistance through on-site guidance and training in proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned programs and ground support equipment.
- Provide and assist quality team with root cause analysis and generate reports in case of equipment malfunction or failures to identify/analyse any undesirable trends.
- Complete site documentations such as weekly safety update, installations check lists, pre-commissioning, and commissioning procedures.
- Hands-on on-site parts replacement, testing, and verification of electrical equipment.
- Adhere with company Health and Safety policies and work in safe and best practice manner to ensure the wellbeing of personnel and equipment are not compromised.
- Able to interface at upper management and peers levels of the organization both internally and externally in clear and methodical manner.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Trade qualified Electrician or Electrical engineering bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university
- Solid understanding of Power Electronics, Electric Circuit, Electric Power Systems, Medium Voltage, Harmonics, with good hands-on skill.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers.
- Good literacy in at least one computer programming language.
- Hands-on experience and knowledge of test instruments (recorders, power analysers, oscilloscopes, Insulation resistance, HI pot etc.)
- Comfortable to sail on marine vessels if needed and remain offshore for defined number of days.
- Willing to travel including distant in-country or aboard limited duration visits and with short notice in advance
- Good understanding of Health and Safety, and risks / Hazards involved.
