About the role
- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses
- General expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques
- Take responsibility for fuel project activities including reload analyses, methods implementation, power uprates, new fuel introductions, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues
- Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions
- Prepare, document and present technical data to internal/external customers
- Provide technical mentoring to support team development and knowledge management, including procedure development and adherence
- Develop/deliver training course offerings in support of external commercial requests, as well as for internal audiences for knowledge management, and knowledge capture and transfer
- Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification
- Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 1 year of experience in T-H Nuclear Plant Safety Analysis
- Experience in ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses
- M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T/H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems is preferred
- Experience with BWR technology ECCS LOCA and Containment analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
- Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP & TRACE
- Experience in Best Estimate methodology development (e.g., TRACG LOCA)
- Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON
