About the role

  • Responsible for leading and coordinating all technical aspects of the substations and balance of plant for large and HV substation projects
  • Identify key internal & external stakeholders and their needs such as technical information, execution strategy, and drive effective communications to align people for efficient work
  • Accountable for engineering activities on the assigned project such as: schedule development & updates, design safety, planning & tracking project design reviews, design optimization, On Time Delivery, risk management, and quality control/quality assurance
  • Interface with internal and external team members such as the Project Engineering Director, discipline PEM’s, Designers, CAD Operators, Project Managers, and support organizations
  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of the concept and detail design for power single line drawing, physical substation general arrangement layouts, plan and elevation drawings, equipment erection drawings, construction details, layouts for high voltage bus, cable, high voltage equipment, electrical clearances, conduit, cable, and wiring, auxiliary power, grounding, lightning and control buildings
  • Produce and deliver Technical specifications and data sheets for all major HV equipment
  • Oversee related studies and calculations as well as development of the bills of material
  • Manage a combined project BOM & MDL from multiple sources, writing and/or reviewing High Voltage equipment technical specifications
  • Single point of contact for technical issues for the customer and project manager
  • Responsible for technical change control and risk management
  • Respond to site RFI and conduct filed inspections for compliance verifications
  • Accountable for meeting customer engineering CTQ’s

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (BSEE preferred)
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering for electric utilities and renewable energy power plants and projects experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in substation type applications
  • Able and willing to travel 20% including international
  • Eligible to work in USA
  • Professional Engineering license in the United States (or demonstrating his/her plan to get PE license within a certain period)
  • In depth experience applying High Voltage substation North American standards & guidelines (IEEE & ANSI standards and codes)
  • Experience with GE GIS equipment
  • Knowledge of the design aspects for HV/MV equipment
  • Understanding of civil engineering and substation related structural design requirements
  • Field-testing and commissioning experience with safe work habits
  • Demonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability
  • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent personal computer skills, including programming and design automation, and familiarity with AutoCAD, BIM and Revit strongly desired
