About the role

  • Keep the wind farm running at availability levels as sold in the SMA, by providing solutions & support to the field teams to get tripped turbines back in operation on short notice.
  • Responsible for handling wind turbine trips that could not be solved after a first troubleshooting attempt by the ROC.
  • Diagnosis, failure analysis and control of the performance of GE wind turbines and in particular converters, its cooling and electrical systems with the ultimate goal of bringing the turbine back in operation via the ROC.
  • In case remote restart is not possible, development of clear Work Instructions for the Field Techs that allows them to get the tripped turbine back in operation on the first visit.
  • Take ownership of driving repair work to closure and work this jointly with Sourcing, Projects and the PLI team.
  • Maintain a clear tracker with expected material delivery dates and field implementation dates for each repair.
  • If necessary, escalate high impact reoccurring issues to Engineering to start a RCA.
  • Support the Engineering sub-systems teams on RCAs by providing clear technical information on recurring issues to them.
  • Analyze and lead the development and continuous improvement of operating procedures (like Fault Handling Procedures) and tools to support ROC employees and Field Techs.
  • Define a path to become less dependent on supplier support for operating and maintaining the converters over their life.

Requirements

  • Certified technician or engineering degree
  • Experience in the wind turbine technical support area, in field support or in an engineering domain
  • Deep understanding of wind turbine technology and operation
  • Good domain knowledge of converter technology, its converter and electrical systems
  • Ability to develop further knowledge in relation to own work scope
  • Analytical skills and ability to understand causal factors
  • Ability to extract and analyze SCADA data and trenders coming from the turbine
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to explain complex problems to others.
