About the role

  • Oversee the implementation and stabilization of payroll tax operations across North America, with primary focus on United States
  • Manage operational logistics for a payroll tax function supporting 18,000+ employees across 30 company entities
  • Stabilize operations through decision making, risk-based prioritization, and streamlined execution
  • Oversee implementation of employment tax compliance activities within People Operations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment tax regulations via audit controls in payroll platform and integrations
  • Manage and resolve employee inquiries with high value on world class customer service
  • Manage and resolve inquiries from taxing authorities focusing on timeliness and risk prioritization
  • Partner with internal tax, payroll, and compliance stakeholders to support employment tax audits and settlements
  • Develop and implement best practices for employment tax compliance across the region
  • Provide operational guidance and support to payroll vendor teams, including training on pay input parameters
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, HR and other functions to integrate employment tax compliance into People Operations processes
  • Design, implement, and track key metrics to monitor operational health and risk
  • Identify and drive continuous process improvements using LEAN and other efficiency frameworks
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and quality to ensure compliance with legal and tax policy requirements

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of experience in employment tax compliance
  • Significant prior professional work experience with demonstrated understanding employment tax processes, regulatory compliance and/or Operations/Service-oriented environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to organize and analyze data
  • Fluent in English knowledge both verbal and written
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of employment tax regulations
  • Experience working United States and Canada employment tax (desired)
  • Proficiency in Executive Compensation payroll and tax reporting requirements (desired)
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing across all levels within the organization
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in HR systems (ex. Workday) and technologies
