About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support Mechanical Systems engineering activities for the BWRX-300 SMR system design and coordinate with site construction activities
- Perform analysis and design work supporting system requirements and specifications
- Coordinate and manage the disposition of Field Change Notices and Non-Conformances Reports
- Provide technical advice and support to solve site problems
- Serve as a key member of the Systems Engineering leadership team
- Deliver technical and engineering work needed to support BWRX-300 SMR design
- Liaise with customers in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management
- Interface with cross-functional teams and departments to complete system design activities
- Coordinate design deliverables during fabrication, procurement, and construction phases
- Support mechanical system engineering during design and construction activities
- Ensure projects are constructed according to plans and specifications
- Address technical issues between construction, fabrication, and design teams
- Monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Undertake corrective and preventive actions resulting from quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of experience in an engineering role
- Minimum 5 years of experience in nuclear system design activities, including development of process flow diagrams, thermodynamic and heat/fluid flow transfer calculations, and engineering specifications
- Legal authorization to work in the United States for U.S.-based positions
- Legal authorization to work in Canada for Canadian-based positions
- Ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information, if applicable
- Citizenship eligibility under U.S. Export Control Laws or specific authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy
- Ability to effectively function in a dynamic design environment and manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining commitment to personal and nuclear safety principles
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Established project management skills
- Ontario P. Eng license strongly preferred for Canadian applicants
