About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure safe operations across the ONW India region.
- Provide technical EHS support, oversight, and execution of GE Vernova and ONW EHS standards.
- Support the wider ONW COE EHS team in fostering a unified EHS culture.
- Manage GE Vernova employees and contingent workers, allocating EHS resources across the region.
- Lead site/cluster EHS teams to develop, implement, and monitor the EHS Management System.
- Implement GE Vernova Life Saving Rules, EHS programs, and procedures aligned with company and local regulations.
- Drive EHS and regulatory compliance at services sites in India.
- Coordinate with hub leaders, service site leads, MCU leaders, and blade services teams on EHS programs and training.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for health and safety initiatives and accountability.
- Support and mentor Operations teams in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Liaise with customers, contractors/subcontractors, emergency services, and regulatory agencies on EHS matters.
- Deliver and support development of EHS training and maintain competency and completion records.
- Conduct audits and inspections and manage third-party EHS inspections through timely closure of findings.
- Promote positive EHS culture, STOP WORK Authority, EHS incentive programs, and Just and Fair Cause processes.
- Manage EHS meetings with GE, partners, subcontractors, and other third parties.
- Lead teams in problem solving, root cause identification, and practical solution development.
- Support additional business needs, including governance audits and EHS support for the EHS COE team.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical etc.).
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in health and safety roles, preferably within a cross-functional, multinational organization.
- Degree or professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., ASP, CSP, RLI, NEBOSH IGC preferred).
- Strong leadership and influence skills, with the ability to motivate teams across different cultures and geographies.
- Deep knowledge of EHS management systems, international standards, and local safety regulations.
- Flexibility to travel 50–60% of the time (domestic and international).
- Demonstrated mastery in EHS Risk Assessment, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), EHS Auditing, Regulatory Compliance, and the design/implementation of EHS Management Systems.
- Strong knowledge of Service site environments and High-Risk Operations (HRO).
- Proven experience in two or more of: Electrical Safety, LOTO requirements, Crane Safety, Construction Safety, Fall Prevention, or Confined Space entry.
- Exceptional skills in influence and communication, resilience, change management, performance/resource/conflict management, employee relations, team engagement, and goal setting.
- Proven ability to organize, motivate, and drive change across cross-functional teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the confidence to facilitate training for diverse audiences.
- Good physical condition and fitness required to perform site visits and climb wind turbines.
- High energy, self-starter mentality, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
