About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Plan and execute the commissioning of protection systems for hydro generators and associated equipment.
Perform the configuration, testing, and validation of digital relays and IEDs using secondary current and voltage injection.
Validate protection logic, cause-and-effect matrices, trip circuits, alarms, and interlocks.
Perform end-to-end integration testing between protection, control, automation, and excitation systems.
Monitor protection behavior during first-roll, synchronization, and load-rejection tests.
Analyze sequence-of-events (SOE) records and oscillography to ensure system integrity.
Verify CT and VT circuits, ensuring connection and polarity compliance.
Prepare procedures and technical reports, and support Engineering in correcting design faults or inconsistencies.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Technical or university degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics, Automation, or Electrical Engineering.
Previous experience commissioning protection systems at hydroelectric power plants.
Technical knowledge of digital relays, IEDs, and secondary injection test equipment.
Knowledge of protection functions for generators, transformers, and auxiliary systems.
Intermediate English proficiency.
Full availability for travel and extended assignments or relocation in Latin American countries.
Basic Spanish is a plus.
