About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and execute the commissioning of protection systems for hydro generators and associated equipment.
- Perform the configuration, testing, and validation of digital relays and IEDs using secondary current and voltage injection.
- Validate protection logic, cause-and-effect matrices, trip circuits, alarms, and interlocks.
- Perform end-to-end integration testing between protection, control, automation, and excitation systems.
- Monitor protection behavior during first-roll, synchronization, and load-rejection tests.
- Analyze sequence-of-events (SOE) records and oscillography to ensure system integrity.
- Verify CT and VT circuits, ensuring connection and polarity compliance.
- Prepare procedures and technical reports, and support Engineering in correcting design faults or inconsistencies.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Technical or university degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics, Automation, or Electrical Engineering.
- Previous experience commissioning protection systems at hydroelectric power plants.
- Technical knowledge of digital relays, IEDs, and secondary injection test equipment.
- Knowledge of protection functions for generators, transformers, and auxiliary systems.
- Intermediate English proficiency.
- Full availability for travel and extended assignments or relocation in Latin American countries.
- Basic Spanish is a plus.
