About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage risk processes end-to-end during the commercial Inquiry-to-Order phase
- Serve as subject matter expert for complex contract negotiations, risk reviews, and compliance
- Lead review, interpretation, and negotiation of U.S. Government-specific contract requirements
- Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS, agency-specific provisions, flow-down requirements, and Cost Accounting Standards
- Lead negotiation and redlining of MSAs, Teaming Agreements, MOUs, NDAs, and other complex commercial agreements
- Analyze and mitigate legal, contractual, execution, and operational risks
- Identify, develop, and recommend risk mitigation strategies
- Evaluate and manage compliance obligations involving CUI, CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, export controls, and government-mandated cybersecurity requirements
- Own the Risk Assessment Management process
- Build and operate Risk Review sessions with Legal, Finance, Tax, EHS, and Security stakeholders
- Partner with Sales and Tendering teams on contract structures
- Translate contractual requirements into business strategies to maximize margin and limit liability
- Develop standardized contract templates and commercial models
- Improve processes to reduce cycle times and costs
- Conduct proposal post-mortems to refine risk mitigation strategies
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders and coordinate compliant handover of signed contracts to Order-to-Remittance execution teams
- Operate as an individual contributor; this position does not manage others
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Legal, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 10–15+ years of experience in government contracts, contract management, commercial risk mitigation, and bid development and management
- Professional experience in U.S. Government contracting with the USG and/or a major defense contractor
- Advanced knowledge of FAR/DFARS, CMMC/NIST compliance, federal acquisition processes, and government contracting requirements
- Ability to research U.S. Government contracting requirements efficiently and effectively
- Deep understanding of Firm Fixed Price, Time & Materials, and Cost Reimbursement contract types
- Experience with CRM systems, such as Salesforce/SPEAK4GE
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience managing multiple contract negotiations simultaneously across diverse product lines
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional inputs for timely contractual terms review
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to identify and resolve high-risk, ambiguous, or unfavorable contractual provisions
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to influence decision-making across all organizational levels
- Familiarity with Energy industry infrastructure, including Grid Automation, SCADA, HMI, or Electrical Power projects, and related cyber/physical security requirements
- Ability to manage complex projects with urgency and operational rigor
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
