About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Test and commission HV and LV substation equipment to meet project timelines and budget requirements
Manage technical integrity of primary and secondary equipment during construction and operational phases
Ensure site safety culture, including management of risk assessments and method statements
Lead on-site commissioning teams and provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship
Create technical documentation, including test records, reports, and non-conformance tracking
Collaborate with project stakeholders to resolve technical queries and manage site-based commissioning resources
Perform fault finding on protection schemes and integrate third-party IEDs

Requirements

What you’ll need

Substantive experience in testing and commissioning HV power system equipment within generation, transmission, or distribution environments
Ability to manage and troubleshoot complex protection schemes and substation automation systems
Understanding of IEC61850, Modbus, and IEC 104 communication protocols
Expertise using Omicron, Sverker, or Megger test equipment
Ability to travel extensively to projects and field assignments across the UK and globally
Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required
Ability to spend considerable time away from home for training and field assignments
Formal university Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is nice to have, but not required
