About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Maintain optimal function and output at the wind site
Work daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs
Execute contractual obligations and customer requirements involving electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators
Apply understanding of variable pitch and speed turbines and converter parts
Read, understand, and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
Adhere to Environmental Health and Safety processes, regulations, and compliance requirements
Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines
Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
Perform diagnostic analysis and generate plans for timely resolution
Document work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
Work with GE’s remote operations center when necessary
Mentor peers
Partner and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines
Travel locally within the Lazbuddie, Easter, and Bethel hub

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma / GED
Minimum of 4 years of wind trouble-shooting experience, and at least 1 year EHS, SQC, Lead role; OR minimum of 6 years of wind trouble-shooting experience; OR minimum of 3 years of wind trouble-shooting experience AND Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
Basic computer skills
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time
Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily
Meet and maintain specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs. including required gear
Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs
Occasional overnights may be required per hub needs
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High School Diploma / GED qualifies as the minimum credential alternative; a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is an alternative with 3 years of experience
Desired: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university
Desired: Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field
Desired: Wind turbine experience
Desired: Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
