About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Respond to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, and repair customers' basic biomedical equipment
- Perform planned maintenance and safety/environmental inspections as assigned
- Assist experienced technicians with basic and complex repairs and resolutions
- Communicate and partner effectively with teammates, colleagues, and customers
- Follow GE policies, procedures, hospital protocols, and complete required documentation
- Maintain daily customer communications to ensure resolution, follow-up, and customer satisfaction
- Implement GE/customer facility contracts and support business objectives
- Provide efficient service delivery to accounts within the assigned area
- Share on-call responsibility after training
- Document repair actions and submit reports and summaries on schedule
- Care for and calibrate spares, tools, and test equipment
- Maintain technical knowledge of standards, codes, and procedures for safe medical equipment use
- Use manuals, technical support, FaceTime, and online resources when performing planned maintenance
- Meet Health and Human Services, Environmental Health and Safety, and other regulatory requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent military education
- Completion of the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship, Apprenticeship, or Military Externship program may qualify
- Alternatively, High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT, or mechanical equipment
- Analytical and communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to customers
- Willingness to work after hours or a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends, as necessary
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain the license
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods
- Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level and flex/extend the neck
- Good hand and finger dexterity
- Required vision abilities may include color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
- Customer-facing experience desired
- Healthcare/clinical environment experience desired
- Experience documenting with computer systems and web applications desired
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
