Senior Customs Special Programs Operations Leader

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design, implementation, and governance of US Customs special programs, with emphasis on U.S. duty mitigation strategies and duty drawback
- Own and execute the U.S. Customs ACH process as a core duty-payment and control mechanism
- Ensure customs payment processes are integrated with freight-pay, FA&P, and related financial control structures
- Develop and maintain U.S. tariff and duty cost visibility, including reporting, trend analysis, and performance metrics
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to duty spend, savings, compliance, payment timeliness, process effectiveness, and risk reduction
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance (FA&P), Transportation / Control Tower, Customs, and trade compliance stakeholders to resolve issues and improve process performance
- Identify opportunities to reduce customs-related cost, improve controls, and optimize duty recovery and savings
- Manage key vendors, brokers, and external partners supporting customs special programs and payment processes
- Support high-risk and high-complexity environments, including new business integrations, M&A entities, local-model sites, bonded operations, and engine-related customs environments
- Maintain alignment with GE Aerospace’s broader trade and logistics risk management framework, including customs, export, transportation, and related compliance considerations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of experience in customs trade compliance, or international trade with substantial experience in duty mitigation and US Customs special programs)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in customs trade compliance, or international trade with substantial experience in duty mitigation and US Customs special programs
- Strong knowledge of CBP regulations
- Professional certifications related to customs, trade compliance, or supply chain are a plus (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist, CZS, AZS, LCB, licenses customs broker)
- Experience in aerospace or manufacturing industries
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of US customs duty rules and payment mechanisms
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Familiarity with GE Aerospace's lean operating model, manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, Standard Work, Hoshin Kanri)
