About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary set of engineers to design and analyze mechanical components and systems for experimental Hypersonic, aero-thermal test rigs
  • Execute the design, analysis and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles
  • Develop mechanical systems from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable components using 3D CAD
  • Perform analyses ranging from classical textbook methods and 1D spreadsheet calculations to Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Prepare drawings to manufacture prototypes of an experimental setup
  • Document and communicate assumptions, inputs and proposed solutions to multidisciplinary teams for review
  • Support validation of new designs and technologies through benchtop or larger-scale testing
  • Prepare presentations and slides to communicate ideas and/or progress on projects
  • Ability to work well with Integrated Product Teams to verify novel design solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years design and analysis experience
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and applying them to technical tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Skilled in mechanical design using 3D CAD Siemens NX or equivalent
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
