About the role
- Manage the buying process for a given set of goods
- Apply sourcing policy and interface between supplier and entity with respect to specifications and budgets
- Manage relationships with suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance and identify areas for improvement
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of a discipline and analytical thinking to execute policy/strategy
- Lead projects with low risks and resource requirements
- Explain information and develop skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within the field
- Convey performance expectations and handle sensitive issues
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand project requirements
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- Identify and mitigate potential risks to procurement activities
- Propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address complicated, day-to-day problems
- Prioritize information for data analysis
- Use technical experience and analytical thinking
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers
- Negotiate contracts and ensure favorable terms and conditions
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide regular updates on procurement activities and project status
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and initiatives
- Travel if needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Commercial Operations, Sourcing/Procurement, Supplier Relationship Management, Sales, Supply Chain or Contract Management roles)
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in Commercial Operations, Sourcing/Procurement, Supplier Relationship Management, Sales, Supply Chain, or Contract Management roles
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Established project management skills
- Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
