About the role
- Lead cross-functional design efforts to mature turbine engine component technologies through demonstrator rig and/or engine testing
- Create designs that support both ground and flight testing for demonstrator and/or certification/qualification purposes
- Take component concepts through the entire design process, exercising core engineering skills including 3D modeling, finite element analysis, high cycle & low cycle fatigue assessments, mechanical stack-ups, and drawing definition release
- Conduct design trades to optimize across a range of requirements, develop validation plans for new technologies, and understand the impact on project cost and schedule
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to establish boundary conditions, assess advanced material and manufacturing capabilities
- Develop in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline
- Use prior experience and acquire technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
- Develop in-depth understanding of key business drivers; use this understanding to accomplish own work
- Use prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks
- Use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions
- Provide informal guidance to new team members
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in turbine design or related field
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
- Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, & program management skills
- Demonstrated track record of ability to work in a team environment
- Experience with turbine engine structural component design
- Experience with turbine engine component design for additive manufacturing
- Experience with engine/aircraft installations
- Experience working with external customers/partners and processes
- Experience working in EVM managed projects
- Material Review Board (MRB) certification
- Strong understanding of turbogenerator principles and technologies
- Proficiency in CAD software (NX) and simulation tools (Ansys, etc)
