About the role

  • Lead cross-functional design efforts to mature turbine engine component technologies through demonstrator rig and/or engine testing
  • Create designs that support both ground and flight testing for demonstrator and/or certification/qualification purposes
  • Take component concepts through the entire design process, exercising core engineering skills including 3D modeling, finite element analysis, high cycle & low cycle fatigue assessments, mechanical stack-ups, and drawing definition release
  • Conduct design trades to optimize across a range of requirements, develop validation plans for new technologies, and understand the impact on project cost and schedule
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to establish boundary conditions, assess advanced material and manufacturing capabilities
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline
  • Use prior experience and acquire technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
  • Develop in-depth understanding of key business drivers; use this understanding to accomplish own work
  • Use prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks
  • Use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions
  • Provide informal guidance to new team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in turbine design or related field
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, & program management skills
  • Demonstrated track record of ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience with turbine engine structural component design
  • Experience with turbine engine component design for additive manufacturing
  • Experience with engine/aircraft installations
  • Experience working with external customers/partners and processes
  • Experience working in EVM managed projects
  • Material Review Board (MRB) certification
  • Strong understanding of turbogenerator principles and technologies
  • Proficiency in CAD software (NX) and simulation tools (Ansys, etc)
