About the role

  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary set of engineers to design and analyze mechanical components and systems for experimental aero-thermal test rigs
  • Design of prototype components and subsystems for rapid development of hypersonic propulsion systems
  • Design using 3D CAD and develop thermal-structural systems from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable component
  • Perform analyses ranging from classical textbook methods and 1D spreadsheet calculations to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations
  • Support development of assembly and test plans
  • Document and communicate assumptions, inputs and proposed solutions to multidisciplinary teams for review
  • Prepare drawings to manufacture prototypes or components of an experimental setup
  • Support validation of new designs and technologies through benchtop or larger-scale testing
  • Prepare presentations and slides to communicate ideas and/or progress on projects
  • Ability to work well in Integrated Product Teams to create and verify novel design solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 3+ years design, analysis and testing experience with prototype or product development
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and applying them to technical tasks
  • Skilled in mechanical design using 3D CAD
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
