About the role
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary set of engineers to design and analyze mechanical components and systems for experimental aero-thermal test rigs
- Design of prototype components and subsystems for rapid development of hypersonic propulsion systems
- Design using 3D CAD and develop thermal-structural systems from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable component
- Perform analyses ranging from classical textbook methods and 1D spreadsheet calculations to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations
- Support development of assembly and test plans
- Document and communicate assumptions, inputs and proposed solutions to multidisciplinary teams for review
- Prepare drawings to manufacture prototypes or components of an experimental setup
- Support validation of new designs and technologies through benchtop or larger-scale testing
- Prepare presentations and slides to communicate ideas and/or progress on projects
- Ability to work well in Integrated Product Teams to create and verify novel design solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university
- 3+ years design, analysis and testing experience with prototype or product development
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and applying them to technical tasks
- Skilled in mechanical design using 3D CAD
- Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
