About the role
- Guide and lead multi-disciplinary/global project teams to develop aerodynamic technologies for next generation aircraft engines
- Drive development of high-fidelity computational analyses (e.g., Large Eddy Simulations)
- Shape and mature ideas and concepts to improve aerodynamic, aero-mechanical and aero-acoustic performance and operability of turbomachinery components
- Patent your inventions and develop a record of publication via conferences and peer reviewed journals
- Deploy your extensive experience in modeling and simulation to drive validation & verification efforts and/or to demonstrate new technologies
- Prepare and participate in project and technical reviews
- Deliver presentations, reports, and publications to GE Aerospace Research and Engineering staff as well as external agencies
- Provide expertise to help resolve technical challenges across the broader GE Aerospace organization
- Provide technical guidance through effective coaching/mentoring
- Lead the development and writing of internal and external proposals
- Leverage and grow an external network of collaborators in academia, government, and industry
Requirements
- Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines with at least 7 years of relevant experience
- Extensive experience and knowledge of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
- Experience in meshing & using engineering simulation/analysis tools to model flows in and around aircraft engine components
- Experience leading global and/or multidisciplinary teams to develop technologies or predictive capabilities from concept to validation
- Ability to investigate, model and provide critical insight into complex physical flow phenomena
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Good communication skills and ability to interface with senior leaders and customers with clarity and confidence
- Previous experience leading and managing projects, stakeholders and funding is a plus
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
