About the role

  • Act as Project Cost Consultant managing pre- and post-contract activities on built environment projects (office, fit out, hospitality)
  • Manage procurements, take market soundings, develop procurement strategy and prepare tender documentation
  • Lead tender evaluations, chair consensus meetings and draft Tender Reports for client approval
  • Negotiate and collate contract documents with client teams and contractors
  • Monitor construction budgets, prepare and present detailed cost reports and cashflow forecasts
  • Manage post-contract change control, assess works for payment applications and negotiate final accounts
  • Undertake cost planning, detailed estimating, benchmarking and measurement (using CostX)
  • Analyse cost impact of design changes and undertake market testing with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Undertake detailed reconciliations tracking cost movement between stages
  • Identify and assess project risks and provide proactive advice to project teams to avoid disputes and delays
  • Support team members, report to senior leadership and contribute to business development and firm initiatives

Requirements

  • Degree qualified
  • MRICS preferred but not essential; firm supports training to gain professional qualification
  • Pre- and post-contract experience
  • Experience working under construction contract terms and conditions, preferably JCT Design & Build
  • Experience as the day-to-day project lead and client-facing roles
  • Experience preparing full suite of tender documents and leading tender evaluations
  • Ability to take market soundings, establish supply chain and develop procurement strategy
  • Experience of post-contract change control and preparing/negotiating final accounts
  • Ability to monitor construction budgets, prepare cost reports and cashflow forecasts
  • Experience with measurement and estimating; ability to prepare cost plans and benchmarking
  • Ability to use CostX as a measurement tool
  • Familiarity or willingness to use Power BI and other role-related software
  • Previous experience within a consultancy environment (desirable)
  • Experience working in a client-focused environment with strong stakeholder engagement
  • Strong report writing, production and presentation skills
  • Able to work on own initiative and collaborate with internal teams
  • Strategic thinker with broad problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience of Microsoft platforms
